Set in the 1940’s, Seven Guitars begins after the funeral of Floyd ‘Schoolboy’ Barton. It takes place in the backyard boarding house in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We then flashback to the week leading up to Floyd’s unusual death. Just released from 90 days in jail, blues singer Floyd "Schoolboy" Barton is asked to sign a record deal after a song he recorded months before becomes an unexpected hit. After a year of trials and tribulations, Floyd is ready to mend his ways, right the past year's wrongs and return to Chicago with a new understanding of what's important in his life. He comes back to Pittsburgh trying to convince his old love, Vera, to come with him to Chicago so he can become a star. Floyd is on a journey to prove to his community that he has changed. As soon as everyone is convinced that he may be changing and it seems as though things are finally going his way, Floyd is killed, and everyone’s world comes crashing down once more.
