Join us this Women's History Month for our fourth annual exhibition highlighting this year's theme , “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations,” which will honor the profound influence of women in the craft sphere. This exhibition highlights how traditional crafts, once viewed as domestic tasks, have become vital forms of cultural expression and economic empowerment. The feminist art movement of the 1970s significantly elevated these crafts while highlighting other mediums, such as textiles, ceramics, and performance, and turning them into powerful creations for challenging societal norms and advocating for gender equality, ultimately reshaping the art world and inspiring future generations through creativity, resilience, and encouraging a broader dialogue about gender, power, and the value of women's contributions.
This exhibit will be on display from March 12,2025 - April 14, 2025 in Hal Gomer Gallery at Chesapeake Arts Center.
DIRECTIONS: Chesapeake Arts Center's address is 194 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park, MD 21225. When you arrive at CAC and turn into the parking lot from Hammonds Lane, follow the parking lot past Hammonds Lane Theatre to the rear of the building and look for a large blue awning and sign that says Chesapeake Arts Center (Next to the Maya Angelou mural.)
