Join us for Chesapeake Arts Center’s 9th annual free family-friendly arts festival, Arts in the Park, on Saturday, September 30, 2023 from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm! (Rain date is Sunday, October 1, 2023)
This event is free and open to the general public. Traditionally this event, which includes both fun family activities and live entertainment, has attracted between 800-1000 attendees of all ages.

The festival will be held in front of CAC’s Hammonds Lane Theatre at 194 Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn Park, MD 21225.

The AngelWing Project presents a scene from their upcoming performance of August Wilson's Seven Guitars; MD Theatre Collective presents a scene from their upcoming performance of Ragtime; S.T.A.R LTD. youth performance group presents a scene from The Prom and some other special surprises. And, our own CAC Kids Theatre group will be performing a scene from the production of Annie jr.

Visit the booths of more than 70 artists and community organizations to purchase

Art Activities:
Community Mural: Join your fellow festival-goers to help create a community mural. Our 'Arts in the Park' Community Mural is led by local muralist, Tammy Barnes, and is geared towards people of all ages. Materials will be provided and no painting/artistic experience is required to parricipate! All mural contributors have the opportunity to memorialize their participation with their signature on a plaque that will accompany the mural in its final exhibit space at CAC. Coiled Clay Bowls: Learn the traditional art of coil pottery and create your own bowl.
Mod-Podge Pumpkins: A twist on pumpkin decorating — perfect for getting into the fall spirit!
Sugar Skull Magnets: Design your own Sugar Skull Magnet in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Battlebots Obstacle Course: Tinker with our robots as you battle it out through a fun obstacle course.
Diffusing Color Leaves: Create magical one-of-a-kind works of art using special color diffusing paper, pastels, and watercolor.

Free Flu Shots: University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center will be offering flu vaccinations for ages 3 and up and hospital resources and education!
