Sanyee Barjogar Jr. is an author, photographer, and filmmaker. When he’s not creating art, he works at Old Mill High School as a TSA. He assists teachers and helping special education students with their school work to further advance them in school.

Sanyee successfully published his first novel at the age of 16 called, New Dark Age. And, his second novel at 22 called ‘Whispering Dusk’ that was released on October 22, 2020. He’s been working hard to get the recognition it needs for him to be able to excel and achieve his lifelong goal in being an author/filmmaker.

Here’s Sanyee talking about his art:

What art do you most identify with? I’d have to say I mostly identify with film. Although writing is my passion, I’ve always had an eye for specific aesthetics involved with cinematography and photography. To be able to express emotion and thought through film and photos has always been something that draw me into the world of film.

When did you realize you were an artist? Approximately three years of age. I was always one to draw any thing my imaginative toddler mind could think of. I can say that I have always had quite the imagination, and I often expressed that through my art.

How did you get into your art/side-gig?  Motivation fueled by passion. Ever since I could first write with pen on paper, I knew that I wanted to be someone to create worlds that people can be captivated by and escape into. Whether that be through my writing, or through photos/film, I knew it was always something I wanted to be able to do. So I never gave that up. I write everyday, I take and edit photos and film whatever and whenever I can to be productive in my craft and perfect myself the best I can.

What food, drink, song inspires you? Fruit, Hans Zimmer scores, and Pineapple soda inspires me. An odd combination of inspiration for sure, but each play their part in my inspiration to create. Fruit is my favorite thing to eat. Whether is strawberries, Kiwi, bananas or melons, eating them cold and in mixed into a large bowl, helps me produce unexpected ideas. Hans Zimmer in my personal opinion is a musical genius, capturing raw emotion through mere sound, and gracefully helps with my world building within a story I’m working on. As for pineapple soda? Well, I just like pineapple soda.

What memorable responses have you had to your work? Every single response I have gotten with my work has always been similar to one another. It informs me that I have continuity and a kind of nostalgic and poetic aesthetic that is expressed into descriptive narratives I produce, or my photography / cinematic videos.

What’s your favorite quote? “If you’re going through hell, keep going.” - Winston Churchill

What role does the artist have in society? I believe the artist is responsible for all the things we see and enjoy everyday. From advertisement, to commercials, movie trailers, posters, banners, etc. I believe an artist’s role in society is to get people to pay attention.

What’s your dream job? To write for/ or make a blockbuster movie franchise, or popular Nettflix series.

Why art? It is the ultimate form of expressing the side of you no one knows about.
